At Magnus Legal we are fortunate to work with many very talented and fine colleagues. Here's one of them. Meet Vlora Haxhimehmedi.
Why did you decide to become a lawyer?
It was a dream I had from I was a child – to defeat injustice and claim just. My equally desired profession was to become a nurse, 😊 but with a little guidance from my parents, the choice fell at law school in the end - as I could easier harmonize it with my interests in politics.
I later found out that law could be interesting not only in politics in general, but also when it comes to taxes more specifically. 😊
Which legal areas do you specialize in?
I specialize in international businesses law, where I have more specifically worked with individual income tax. However, since I joined Magnus Legal, I have been able to expand my horizon with other areas, such as company tax law, VAT, contract law etc.
What are you passionate about (work related)?
It is always fun to learn something new, regardless of how difficult some areas may be. Every time a case is solved, regardless of the result for the individual or company, I feel a satisfaction when the case was solved in the most correct manner.
What was the most interesting thing that happened at work this week?
Assisting with a legal opinion in a case of transferring part of a company to the transferors’ children.
What do you like about Magnus Legal?
Magnus Legal is very diverse in sense of employee characteristics. It is good to feel that everyone is welcome just the way we are, with all our differences.
Another aspect I have appreciated a lot, is the opportunity to try different fields of law, no matter how far out of my comfort zone some fields have been. It has been great to have some of the most competent people I have ever met, as a support no matter when I have asked.
What is your favourite activity outside work?
For the past 16 years, I have tried getting more engaged in politics in the Balkans, and especially Kosovo where I come from originally. 👩📣
When I am not engaged in politics, I spend time with my better half, my parents, siblings and their spouses, my two beautiful little nephews who never seize to amaze me with all their creativity and funny things they say, and with my friends. 💖👦👦
