Norway has updated minimum wage standards across multiple sectors, including construction, electricians, cleaning, and shipping, with the changes taking effect on November 1st, 2024. The new rates aim to promote fair compensation and strengthen economic security for workers in these essential industries.
The minimum hourly wage for construction workers has increased to NOK 250,30 per hour for skilled workers and NOK 226,90 for unskilled workers, with an additional rate of NOK 235,80 for unskilled workers with at least one year’s experience in the industry.
In the electrician industry, the minimum hourly wages have been increased to NOK 257,79 for skilled workers and NOK 229,11 for other employees.
The rates for employees who perform production, assembly, and installation work in the shipbuilding and shipyard industry are increased to NOK 211,79 for skilled workers, NOK 202,14 for specialized workers, and NOK 192,61 for helpers.
The changes follow recent labor negotiations and are expected to provide more balanced economic security for workers. These wages are mandatory to incorporate for all companies with employees working in Norway across the specified sectors.
Employers are encouraged to review and adjust wages to ensure compliance with these new standards.
